QUERL VIRLN DOX
x x
I'm not perfect, but I keep trying
'Cause that's what I said I would do from the start
I'm not alive if I'm lonely, so please don't leave me
Was it something I said or just my personality?
'Cause that's what I said I would do from the start
I'm not alive if I'm lonely, so please don't leave me
Was it something I said or just my personality?
"Promise me."

THE GOOD STUFF;;
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Brainy is, to be truthful, quite short, standing just below five feet. Being a Coluan, he is 95% robotic and 5% organic, and the former is quite obvious, as if you did not know any different, you would think him an adroid. With green skin, and purple eyes, coupled with his just-above-shoulder-length blonde hair, he is a striking figure, especially with the fact that some of his panels, such as the ones on his neck and fingers, are quite obvious. He also has the Brainiac signia on both his forehead and ‘clothes’, consisting of three circles connected together by lines. He weighs about an average child his age, as although he almost entirely consists of metal, it is a rather light metal that doesn’t weigh as much as it would appear to.
Clothing-wise, Brainiac doesn’t have ‘clothing’ in a traditional sense, but rather an armor suit that is as much a part of him than anything else. It is purple and black, short-sleeved, with ‘shoes’ that are the same shade of purple. He is unable to change this clothing, and it is the only thing that he ‘wears’. As they are a part of him, when he shifts into his large, ‘mecha’ form, they shift as well, retaining their color.
PERSONALITY: Brainy is quite the intelligent person, unafraid of extrapolating his knowledge to those with ‘lesser’ intelligence than him, and is quite open about it, though not boastful. He is not a very emotional person, forming connections with hard work and often not knowing what to do in social situations, as he is not the most familiar person with them, and those that he considers ‘comrades’ know that. The Coluan is also a bit of a control-freak, especially with his technology, and is forever correcting someone on it. All together, he seems like the typical, introverted genius.
However, despite how he may act outwardly, Querl is quite insecure, and wishes that he were not how he is, that he wasn’t that 95% machine, instead wishing that he were organic and ‘human’, like the rest of his team. But being a Coluan, he hides away his emotions, like they are trained to do, and usually only shows either contentment, irritation, or, on rare occasions, fear. He is not one easily prone to showing emotions, or to expressing them in a physical way, either.
The only one that knows the real Brainy the best, unknown to him, is probably Superman, whom Brainy had long ago latched on to as a figure to look up to, in his deprive emotional-state. Naturally, meeting the real thing did not help such dependence, and has made him even far more insecure as he found himself not measuring up enough, and even more ashamed of his ancestry.
He’s actually quite emotional, for a Coluan. Especially when he ‘geeks out’ about things. The only thing that really causes him to get severely irritated and/or mad is when someone disses or seriously hurts Superman. Then. You. Will. Die.
As well, though no one, not even Brainy himself, fully realizes it, he's terrified inside. Every single person that has been labeled a 'Brainiac' in the Dox line has been insane, and a twelfth level intelligence. Seeing as he has one, as well, and has been labeled such at birth, he has sought to surround himself with powerful people, should he ever go insane. It's a sobering thought, and one that he believes will fully happen some day, so he's determined to give the world as much as he can before he destroys it.
Even though he's frightened out of his mind.
POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES:
-Ability to shift into a larger, ‘mecha’ form of himself that packs more of a punch, but is less mobile and agile than his normal form
-Able to stretch his body parts out and deconstruct himself
-Ability to fly, because of his flight ring
-Able to electrify mechanical things if he can attach himself to them
-Twelfth level intellect and innate skill with anything mechanical or electronic
-Can create a quantum force field
-Has a back-up of himself; Therefore, can die, provided someone reloads him
-Agile and Dexterous
WEAKNESSES:
-Wishes to be human, not mechanical
-Lack of social skills
-Has Brainiac 1.0 coding programmed into him, currently hidden behind many protective codings and firewalls
-Regeneration of his parts causes him to lose energy
-Young
-Every 'Brainiac' in the Dox line has had a twelfth level intellect, and gone insane. He could be next.
GOALS:
-To learn as much as he can
-To try to help Superman to become the best hero he can be
-To Fight Crime; Elimination is statistically impossible
HISTORY: Born on the planet Colu, when he was judged to be a twelfth level intellect, Querl was labeled a 'Brainiac' from birth, and ostracized by his fellow Coluans. His father died not too long after he was born, and his mother, unused to 'love' (as that was a very rare thing for Coluans), abandoned him, unable to deal with it after his father's death. Brainiac 5 was left alone, raised by cold caretakers, and at the age of twelve, he was given the chance to leave, which he immediately took.
Leaving his planet behind, he moved on to the Time Institute, impressing and surprising many of the people there, and even developed the first method of time travel: The Time Bubble. Naturally, considering that time was such a volatile thing, he kept every bit of the knowledge to himself, not sharing the blueprints or plans with anyone. Yes, the fact was shared amongst fellow scientists, but none could replicate it.
Then, a few months after he arrived, a theft occurred by the Institute, and Querl intervened, almost completely driving off the villains on his own before the legion of superheroes arrived. Impressed by their capabilities, he auditioned to join, and passed with flying colors. Becoming the resident ‘tech’ guy in their group, and earning the nickname ‘Brainy’, the youngest member of the entire legion found himself often fighting against the ‘Fatal Five’, the legion’s primary enemies, and it took the entirety of the legion to put them in jail.
They escaped, unfortunately, and seeing as it was nearly impossible to round up the entire legion at once, Brainy suggest traveling back in time to recruit Superman, his hero. It worked, and though they ended up recruiting a Clark Kent who had never been a Superman until this point, he greatly strengthened their team.
Over time, both Brainy and Superman became friends, probably the only one that Brainy would actually admit to being a friend. After all, Brainy had always deeply admired him, and sought to redeem himself from the villainy of his ancestors.
One day, though, when he was tinkering in an attempt to make his Time Bubble require less energy (as it usually drained him too much when he used it), it backfired on him when he made a bad move, and the twelve-year-old genius robot found himself thrown into the 21st century.
Oh, dear.
THE NITTY-GRITTY;;
SCREENNAME: Poet
Time spent roleplaying: Dude… I don’t even know anymore… I think it’s approaching five years?
Other Characters: None at the mo’~
RP Sample: Concentration optimized to full capacity, Brainiac 5 was oblivious to all that surrounded him, not that there was much, considering that he had locked himself in here a full two days ago and forbidden anyone else from entering. He was going to attempt to create a dimensional transporter, much like he had with the Time Bubble, and though the Coluen knew that he would not be able to finish it before his comrades broke down the door and demanded that he come out, he hoped to at least make that connection, that rift between the dimensions.
It was a difficult thing to explain to anyone below his level of intelligence, and considering that the Brainiac was 95.6% certain that the last person to have reached his level of intelligence was a former Brainiac, if they even reached it, the mostly-robot was unable to explain his thought process, nor exactly how he grasped or created a rift between dimensions, how he had with time.
Not that he likely would’ve taken the time to explain it if there was someone, anyway.
Oblivious, and just grasping for that one, small important component as his parts, all spread out with the wires as they were for maximum capacity when working on a project of this size, each conducted their own part on the large disc he was working on, he missed the door opening behind him, and the gasps that sounded as his comrades saw his current state.
He had it! He had grasped it, and he had touched it, and he now knew where the fine line was between dimensions, and the code was being downloaded, and then a hand landed on his ‘shoulder’. “Brainy…”
The Brainiac in question was unable to even fully observe who it was that touched and spoke to him, as the line of code abruptly stopped, his parts all retracted to form his normal self, and he felt himself… falling.
Something had just gone horribly wrong.
