JINX
Well, well, bad luck
Well, I'm used to trials and troubles
And bad luck don't bother me
Well, I'm used to trials and troubles
And bad luck don't bother me

THE GOOD STUFF;;
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: While Jinx herself has turned over a new leaf, her appearance certainly hasn't. With hair reminiscent of devilish horns and dark clothing that just seems to ooze the essence of a witch, she gives an onlooker little reason to expect anything other than a villainess.
The first hint of this is, again, her hair. In general, this is the first aspect of the girl people tend to notice. And really, how could you miss it? Deep, pink and purple-hued hair lies atop her head, standing almost straight up into two horn-like pigtails. They are held in place by two shiny, thick bands of black fabric, the midnight color coordinating with the rest of her outfit. However, a few short strands tend to escape their binds, yet still manage to remain upright none-the-less. Eyes of a matching color peer out from below choppy, side-swept bangs. These eyes posses another one of Jinx's unusual qualities: striking, feline, slitted pupils. Her mouth full of pearly white teeth does not follow this feline trend, however, meaning she does not have fangs. The only unusual thing about her mouth is the tendency to split into a huge, slasher-like smile in the midst of battle.
Minus the extra inches provided by tall hair and platform boots, Jinx stands at an average height of 5'5''. Her figure is very slim, her muscles lean and subtle: the figure of a gymnast. Perhaps tied to this slimness is the apparent lack of curves, with the exception of hips. The ex-villainess's long, delicate fingers are tipped with not-so-delicate, sharp claws. In contrast with her colorful hair, the girl's skin tone is pale, alarmingly paper white with tones of grey. The sole omission of this monotonous pale is the subtle patches of pink blush adorning her cheeks, most likely the result of makeup. Her smooth, clean skin lacks any scarring, tattoos, or other outstanding features. Curiously, she lacks eyebrows.
Jinx's overall outfit gives of a goth vibe. The main section of the outfit is comprised primarily of black, though there is no lack of bluish purple thrown into the mix. The dress ends mid-thigh, hemmed in curves and points, the design bearing an odd resemblance to bat wings. Around her waist lies a thin line of purple, possibly either a belt, or simply part of the fabric of her dress. The full-length sleeves stemming from her outfit flair out, accentuating the bat-like theme. Her legs are wrapped in striped purple and black tights, leading the eyes down to the girl's large, black boots. These boots rise to a little over ankle-length, and the shockingly tall heel and platforms are colored purple. Draping her shoulders is a short purple, poncho-like piece of cloth, hemmed in the same style as her dress. This bit of fabric's sole purpose seems to be to look cool when she throws her arms out. Around her neck is a black choker necklace, from which is hanging a purple pendant.
PERSONALITY: Jinx is a clever and ambitious girl. She craves respect, and had always deemed the side of villainy the quickest ticket to that respect. Until she was given a little shove in the right direction, that is. Now, she devotes her ambition to trying to be the best she can be at whatever she's doing. On the outside, she can appear rather irate and prickly at times, but she has recently begun to develop into a more approachable person. Mature, intelligent, and determined, the girl is a born leader. However, nothing infuriates her more than people not listening to her. This is one of the most surefire ways to set off her temper. However, Jinx generally tries to maintain her cool demeanor and is not prone to throwing tantrums. Only in the direst of situations is her anger accompanied by anything less controlled than the slight raising of voice and a face-palm or two.
All in all, Jinx is very professional. She looks down on laziness in disgust, and she herself is always in action. The girl can be rather arrogant at times, as shown in her mid-fight banter and reactions to her ego being bruised. "I don't care who you are. Nobody messes with me!" However, despite all of this, Jinx is genuinely insecure. Her power is bad luck, something that seems inherently evil, and she feels as if she's shunned among certain crowds for that. This is perhaps the origin of her longing for respect. She had always viewed the side of good as an impossibility. "I'm bad luck. Good was never an option for me." This notion was proved wrong by Kid Flash, who helped her see the light. However, she has yet to find her niche in the world of heroes, perhaps another source of insecurity. However, good or bad, Jinx loves fashion. Even when she was a villain, her crime-sprees involved searching for accessories rather than gaining wealth, unlike the rest of her fellow H.I.V.E. Five members. Amusingly, she enjoys drawing unicorns.

POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES: Jinx is the harbinger of bad luck. Her powers appear to be magical in nature, resembling hexes and dark magic. This open-ended power has shown a wide range of effects, including destructive and concussive force, tidal waves, and even killing plants. Often, Jinx will shoot fire manifestations of bad luck from her hands, the magic appearing as pink, razor-edged, bright bolts of light. The girl's primary method of usage of her "bad luck beams" is destruction; causing perfectly solid structures to fall apart and crumble like cookies. However, she has also been shown to project strong waves of her magic at enemies, ripping apart the ground it travels over, before completely knocking the target off their feet and onto the ground. This technique also seems to cause the victim pain, however small and fleeting.
Jinx's bad luck abilities manifest in smaller ways as well, such as causing a chair someone is sitting in to collapse. In these cases, she rarely performs any hand movements, instead, displaying an almost telekinetic ability to send out waves of bad luck without having to move. In these cases, the glow usually provided from her "bad luck beams" migrates and radiates from her eyes. Another way she summons her powers is through a simple snap. This usually results in a large wall of magic being fired at her targets. All in all, her power of bad luck is rather nonrestrictive, and it seems as if she can do almost anything she wants with it. However, the effects are invariably destructive. As for non-supernatural abilities, Jinx is incredibly agile. She displays marvelous gymnastic skills, and is capable of easily evading a number of attacks. Rapid cartwheels, spins, and handsprings all play an essential role in her fighting style.
WEAKNESSES:
- With her fighting comprised primarily of magic and agility, Jinx is rather lacking in brute, physical strength.
- In accordance with this lack of physical strength, Jinx is rather easy to knock of her feet and send flying away.
- Altogether, Jinx isn't incredibly powerful and would not fare too well in a solo fight.
- Jinx is deeply self-conscious about the nature of her powers.
GOALS: Few things drive Jinx and her ambitions further than the need for respect. In her past as a villain, she sought to gain respect, become as notorious a villainess as Madame Rouge herself, and perhaps liven up her wardrobe with a few stolen trinkets along the way. Now, as an Honorary Titan, she seeks respect as a hero and to prove despite the fact that her powers seem inherently evil, she can use them for good. New to all this hero stuff, that last bit might prove difficult.
HISTORY: Not much is known about Jinx, her family life, or her early years. She was most-likely born with her supernatural abilities, as opposed to receiving them from a freakish accident. She decided early in life that she was destined to use her powers for evil, and while the notion of heroics crossed her mind, it seemed rather impossible. She devoted her time to this belief, and when she was old enough most likely attended a school called "Dark Way Prep" before graduating to the H.A.E.Y.P. (otherwise known as the H.I.V.E.) academy. There, she excelled, rising to the top along with her team. She, Gizmo, and Mammoth became the H.I.V.E.'s top students. While attending, she is counted amongst the popular students. It wasn't long before the team was commissioned by Slade to off his kid enemies, the Teen Titans. For awhile, they seem to have the upper hand and eventually manage to soundly defeat the Teen Titans, even succeeding in separating Robin from the others.
Taking advantage of their weakness, the H.I.V.E. team decided to take Titan's Tower for themselves. The Teen Titans quickly suffer a decisive defeat at the hands of the super-villains, and Jinx uses her magic to create a tidal wave to sweep the leaderless four out to sea. However, not much time passed for the three to revel in their victory when Titans regrouped and attacked, effectively retaking their home. Jinx and her team were sent back to H.I.V.E. Academy. Fast forward a few weeks, and Jinx and her team are out causing trouble once again, under the instruction of Brother Blood of the H.I.V.E. Academy. Their attempts to rob a bank are quickly snuffed by rival Teen Titans, and Jinx, unbeknownst to her, is made the host of a tracking device, courtesy of Robin. A few days after their failure, Jinx and her team are seen eating lunch in the H.I.V.E. Academy cafeteria, on what seems to be an average day for them. However, there is a new student, one who looks normal. Naturally, Jinx and the others comment, wondering if he even has any powers. Out of the three, the clever pinkette is the only one to realize this "Stone" guy sure looks familiar, if not a little cute.
During Stone's stay at the H.I.V.E. Academy, Jinx and the boy begin to develop crushes on each other, even dancing together at the school dance. This made betrayal sting all the more when "Stone" turned out to be none other than Cyborg in disguise. In the Titan's battle against the H.I.V.E. the entire school is brought down in the midst of the destruction. Jinx, along with all the others, flees. Fast forward again, and Jinx has started a super-villain team. This team, named the H.I.V.E. Five, is comprised of herself, Mammoth, Gizmo, See-More and Private H.I.V.E. The Five run rampant on crime sprees as per usual. However, in their robbing of a mall, something is different. This time, when the Teen Titans appear to stop them, they're all dressed in strange outfits, ranging from a giant bunny suit, to an over-sized Christmas sweater, much to the amusement and mirth of the Five. These outfits serve as obstructions in the Titan's fighting, and with Jinx's declaration of "H.I.V.E. Five, eat 'em alive!" the Five defeat them easily. There victory does not last, however, when Mother Mae Eye promptly shows up and thrashed the Five with her purse. They retreat.
Much later, when the Teen Titans are off fighting the Brotherhood of Evil, occurs one of the most instrumental events that shapes Jinx into who she is today. The H.I.V.E. Five are back in action, only this time, Private H.I.V.E. is replaced with Kyd Wykkyd and Billy Numerous is added to the team, making the Five in fact, six. The Five, under Jinx's instruction, rob a museum. While the others go for things that might trade for a lot of cash, Jinx zeroes in on a necklace, rumored to bring the wearer good luck. She promptly dismisses this saying as "just a legend!" and with a wave of bad luck, seizes the necklace. On the groups exit, they are met with a strange, speedy hero who is able to remove their loot from their very hands, without resistance. The Five is too confused and slow to stop the person. Jinx looks down in her hand to see that the good luck necklace is replaced with a rose. "Whoever did this is just messing with us!" Jinx recognizes, infuriated. The Five's attempts at thievery and villainy are continuously foiled by this blur. Later she returns to the museum to once again attempt to steal the good luck necklace. Not long after her arrival on the scene, she is met with a yellow and red-clad super teen, who goes by the name of Kid Flash. They chat for a moment, the boy seeing Jinx's dissatisfaction with her life, suggests (and flirts) that she can do better.
After mocking Kid Flash for his efforts of converting her, Jinx seems to reconsider and almost takes his offered hand. With the words "On second thought, nah." and a blast of bad luck, Jinx reveals this seeming change of heart was all part of a clever plan devised for the boy's capture to improve her reputation with the Brotherhood of Evil. With the help of her team, Kid Flash is caught and imprisoned back at the H.I.V.E. Five's base. The team has a brief discussion about what to do with him, much to Jinx's (who had already told them what they were going to do with him) exasperation. It isn't long before the team, with the exception of the pinkette, run off to play video games. Kid Flash points out that they don't listen very well, and Jinx agrees, before demanding to know who the boy worked with. After some banter, attempts at persuasion, and what appeared to be an almost kiss, Jinx calls the Brotherhood of Evil, ignoring the speedster's protests. When Madame Rouge picks up the phone, Jinx promptly declares her fanship and adoration of the villainess. This declaration is brushed aside with the words "You're wasting my time" and the pinkette returns to business. She informs Madame Rouge that Kid Flash has been captured. After untruthfully ensuring the woman that Kid Flash is being held in a level four containment unit, the call ends and Jinx turns around to discover that lo and behold, the boy has escaped.
In a panicked frenzy, Jinx informs the other members of the H.I.V.E. Five, and demands Kid Flash be found before Madame Rouge arrives. They do not succeed, and the speedster trashes their lair. When Madame Rouge arrives on the scene, she berates the Five for their failure and leaves to get the job done herself. Jinx commands the other members of the H.I.V.E. Five that they must find Kid Flash before Madame Rouge does, in the hopes that some standing with the woman and the Brotherhood may be regained. They promptly refuse to go after him. With the help of See-More, Jinx finds Kid Flash in a warehouse, worn from his battle with Madame Rouge. She uses one of Gizmo's gadgets to contain him in an electric field and exits the warehouse to find Madame Rouge. Upon her exit, Jinx discovers the woman is already there. The teen declares that she captured Kid Flash, just like she said she would. With a slap that sent Jinx flying, Madame Rouge tells her it was not the pinkette's doing, but her own. In an angry response, Jinx destroys the force-field device, letting Kid Flash go. Madame Rouge moves to slap the girl again, but instead, Jinx sends her flying with a concussive wave of bad luck magic. The woman leaves with a promise to be in touch. Not long afterwards, See-More arrives and asks Jinx if she wants to rob a bank. The teen declines, says goodbye, and leaves the area. On her way out, she finds another rose, left for her by Kid Flash. Jinx decides to quit her career of crime.
During their final battle with the Brotherhood of Evil, Jinx appears, brought by Kid Flash, to help the Titans fight. "Well that was a surprise" Cyborg notes. Jinx snaps her fingers, summoning a wave of bad luck to slam into her former teammates. After the battle, she is found hanging out in the tower, along with all the other honorary Titans, before helping stop Dr. Light from robbing a bank. Afterwards, she decided to pursue her own life of heroics, seeing what she could do on her own. She has yet to find a place where she belongs.
THE NITTY-GRITTY;;
SCREENNAME: Roam.
Time spent roleplaying: Around a year and a half.
Other Characters: N/A.
RP Sample: Jinx irritably tapped her clawed fingers against the wooden surface of the table. Tap, tap, tap, the echoes rung throughout the silent room, bouncing off furniture and walls before dissolving completely. The girl's elbow rested on the table, her hand supporting her chin. A fashion magazine lay open on the table before her, illuminated by dim lamplight. The colorful pictures of beautiful clothing seemed to call out to her, but Jinx did not respond. Her eyes weren't even on the magazine, instead glued directly ahead, glazed over in thought. Her slitted pupils stared, unfocused, out the window before of her, watching the lights of the city move like clockwork. It was rather late at night, but Jinx had been unable to sleep. So, she had rose from her attempt at slumber with the intent of reading some fashion magazines. It wasn't doing any good just lying there, so she figured she might as well do something she enjoyed, now that she had the chance. She was dressed in elegant, striped pajamas, the same color as her day wear. Her pink hair was for once not held aloft in her iconic, horned hairstyle, but instead hanging, tousled around her shoulders.
I never thought I'd be one of the good guys, she mused, thoughtfully. That was the focus of her tired brain. Her restless thoughts revolved around the ironic and unlikely events that had transpired. She recalled mocking Kid Flash about his attempts to make her "see the error of her ways" and convert. In a strange twist of fate, that was exactly what had happened. The ex-villainess wondered where she belonged. Her powers were destructive and dark. She couldn't fight without leaving wreckage of rubble in her wake. Would the world really want a hero like that? Someone who caused just as much damage as a villain? Granted, she had seen the Teen Titans fight, and they were pretty messy too. The Teen Titans... She had fought against them, and with them. Occasionally, she'd lend her assistance to the group, but for the most part, the five super teens seemed to have everything under control on their own. She wasn't really needed there.
Not to mention, she still didn't completely like the Titans. Sure, they were alright, but Beast Boy's jokes were terrible, Cyborg seemed to spend most of his time playing video games—not to mention, their short mutual crush in the past made things slightly awkward—Starfire was irritating, and Raven... Jinx really didn't like Raven. She never had. Among her other transgressions, the dark-haired girl's fashion sense was terrible! It's not like there's any rules about having to like everyone to be good, right? The pinkette couldn't muster any complaints about Robin, however. He was a capable leader. Jinx herself liked leading, and had briefly entertained a fantasy of commanding the Teen Titans. But she had seen—she had fought—the Teen Titans without Robin. They were pathetic and disorganized without him. The tapping noise stopped, and silence reclaimed the room for a moment, only to be once again interrupted with a slamming sound. Jinx's fist met the table, frustration causing her to lose it for a moment. "How am I ever going to be noticed if I don't do anything?!" she questioned the empty room. Being a mere footnote to the Teen Titans wasn't good enough!
Maybe I'll lead my own band of heroes...[/i] Jinx mused absently. Pink, slitted eyes blinked. That wasn't a half-bad idea.
