THE GOOD STUFF;;
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Being mostly of Italian blood, her basics consists of black hair and brown eyes, though her Irish/English father wedged in pale white skin that barely manages to tan under a summer sun. She's pretty, I suppose, if a bit undernourished...as she happens to be homeless. This affects her strength and energy considerably, though she's quite used to pushing herself further than she aught to.
If she were to be at full strength (which, obviously, she isn't), she'd not even be that strong to begin with. She's made for speed; long legs for running and a slim build even when healthy. Her bones are light, small and fragile, which makes close combat almost impossible for her, and large guns a struggle to keep steady. But at a distance, with the right weapons...she's deadly.
PERSONALITY:
Nice people would describe her as aloof. Not-so-nice people would describe her as a bitch. Blunt, unsociable and skittish, Jaiven does not play well with others. Not in a mean way, but she's a whole different level of shy. She's more flighty than friendly, and more likely to run away than stay and chat. When cornered she'll either shape-shift and fly away or (when really threatened) attack with whatever she has on hand (usually a dagger or some sort of a knife).
Despite her height, there are two huge facts about her. She has a huge trust issue, and an even larger appetite. She is always hungry (though some of that may be because she's starving...) and the best way to get onto her good side (what's left of it) is to give her something to eat. That's only a baby step to getting to be friends with her, though. That takes a lot of time, a lot of patience, and a lot of food.
POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES:
There isn't much she can do. Jaiven is a shape-shifter, a person who can take the form of animals. However she can only shift into birds. Existing ones. The only real advantage she has as a bird is spy-work. The coloration of the birds she shifts into remain accurate to the real things, and as a bird she cannot be detected as a 'superhero' (if that's what you call people with special powers)...but other than that her powers are useless, even for getting food.
She does have a knack for engineering. She can fix just about anything...most especially anything that flies. And if it flies, she can drive it, and drive it very, very well.
WEAKNESSES:
Energy. Especially shape-shifting. Birds have high metabolism, which is why birds are almost always eating. This is why she rarely shape-shifts unless pressed, because it wastes her energy and makes her ravenous. If she spends too long in her shape without eating, she will not have the strength to shift back to a human form.
However, close combat is the biggest weakness of all. She is not strong and her bones break almost like toothpicks. She cannot hit enough with fists to leave much more than a bruise, and she can't carry much more than seven or so pounds of baggage without damaging her speed, which makes her not only clumsy but more likely to get hit.
GOALS:
Survival. At the moment, she has nothing on her mind but surviving...and figuring out how to work her powers.
HISTORY:
She doesn't know how she got her powers, and she doesn't care. In fact, that whole part of her life is a giant black hole in the middle of her timeline. But she's pretty sure, with the rumors floating around, that she doesn't want to know.
She was born in a normal household in the country. Raised by loving parents as a single child, you know...the whole normal life. Sure, she didn't have many friends, but her grades were good - very good. Jaiven even got accepted to college for engineering...with a full scholarship. But then college life and the addicting drug called 'freedom' took hold of her, and she found herself kicked out before she could even say 'final exams week.' Too embarrassed to tell her parents about her failure, she took to the road. She found herself a job at an electronics shop, and managed to scrape by...barely.
At least, for a while.
That's where the black hole begins, and stretches all the way until a few hours ago, when she woke up in this city. As a bird...and too weak to shift into a human again.

Everything seemed bigger than normal.
That was saying something, because she was pretty sure she saw things bigger than the average person anyways. She was a short person, after all. When had everything gotten so big? When had she even opened her eyes? The last thing she was certain she remembered was that it was a cold winter and she'd been huddling under as many blankets as she could scrounge up in her crappy one-bedroom apartment. Now she could feel the sun warming her, a summer breeze blowing through the trees making her want to stretch her wings and -
Wait, wings?! A startled chirp (did that come from her beak??) caused the flock she was apparently sleeping with to launch into the air with a rush of wings, and bird-y instincts had her following them before she could even think. And when she did think her wings faltered and she plummeted towards the earth with unsettling speed. She barely managed to slow her fall with clumsy flaps, until she found herself sitting in the middle of a rather comfortable patch of clover, but that wasn't what was on her mind right now.
No. No no no no no. She was not a bird. There was no way in heaven or hell that she was a bird. That didn't even make any sense! This had to be a bad trip or something. Maybe Paul had slipped his 'party powder' into her food since Jaiven refused to try it the other day. That had to be it. She was starving and Paul always complained about being hungry. Then again, so did she and she wasn't ever tripping like he was.
...But this was legitimate so hungry she could barely stand up hungry, not just tummy-rumbling hungry. Hungry enough that she looked down to spot a worm and almost went for it until she realized what she was doing. Ugh, no. She wasn't hungry enough to do that! But her stomach hurt she was so hungry. There had to be something to eat...she just needed to think.
That cinched it; her head was too clear to be on a trip, surely. And pain didn't register in dreams (not in her dreams anyways)...so, what was going on...?
