PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
“There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a little meat in you, right? And who cares if I don’t spend hours in some clothing shop raking through brand name clothes.”
Katie Hearth is…well, Katie Hearth. For those who have encountered this spontaneous girl and have, much to their horror dealt with her sporadic whims, have this picture of a ginger haired youth with a spunky personality. She is slightly stockier than her two best friends, have these round cheeks that seem to burn a shade darker than her hair when she’s out in the sun for long, and a distinct dust of freckles sprinkled over the bridge of her nose. Her hair is the bane of her existence as it has a tendency of being everywhere- on her eyes, tickling her nose, out of its restricted bond from her ponytails. It is everywhere! And not just that but it is a stark red color. The ginger of all ginger colors to ever grace a persons hair. She is expressive with an animated body language that is exaggerated by her large green eyes and her soft features.
There is this unique brand to her appearance, but it’s not exactly the type that would draw attention from the opposite sex. She is not you’re typical attractive girl. Not one of those Abercrombie teenagers that slap on lipstick and dab on eyeliner for appeal. What those death mechanisms? No thanks, she‘d rather pass. At this age and day, she cares little to impress others with her clothing or her appearance. All that matters to her is having fun and is indifferent (seemingly so) by anyone else’s opinion. When she’s not wearing her school uniform, Katie can be caught sporting some pants and a t-shirt.
PERSONALITY:
“She is one tough motha…Wait, Katie Hearth? That chick, yeah, I guess she’s okay. A bit out there if you ask me, but she’s harmless.”
-Sigh- “Did she break something again?”
“Katie’s pretty fun to be around though she tends to stick with Gia and Brittney most of the time.”
Katie is a very outgoing individual. She’s the type of person that would jump on the opportunity to have fun regardless of any priorities that may stand in her way, like homework for instance. She’s all about enjoying the moment and very rarely takes things seriously unless there is a sense of urgency that would overrule her fun loving nature. She puts her friends and family above everything else and takes extra measures to brighten up their day when they‘re feeling down and out. While her teachers dread having to deal with her for a whole year (as she upholds a not so pleasant reputation among staff members of Kaitaman High) her classmates enjoy it. She’s the one that will lighten up a room by cracking a joke, or act quite spontaneous just to get out of class early. She barters with teachers for shorter class periods (though that is never effective) and makes bets during class among her mates. Though Katie can be a nightmare to deal with (especially when her imagination is skyrocketing through high levels of sugar), there are teachers that have grown fond of her. There just something about her that is endearing. Something about her that makes her absence be greatly felt for no one can light up a room quite like she can.
Now, you might have guessed it already, but she’s not exactly an A-star student. She has failed test over and over again, and has no motivation to do her homework. Her older siblings have instilled in her this idea that she is as dumb as a doorknob and it kind of just stuck with her. Who needs to try, anyways when you have smart siblings and even smarter friends, right? Though she plays off all her insecurities, and she can come off as indifferent to petty insults, things like her academic record and her inability to absorb information as easily as her siblings bothers her greatly. She was just never good at learning. It wasn’t that she never tried, mind you she has, but there are many factors that contribute to her struggle and among the strongest one that she could imagine is her dyslexia. But anyways, it’s not something that she likes to bring up.
POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES:
Screaming (offensive): 2 points damage. Does not cause ear bleeding but does raise level of irritation to attackers.
Biting (offensive): 5 points damage. Increase irritation. Upon contact, biting could break through skin and draw blood and bruising.
Hiding (defensive): Level ten. Can hide in small kitchen cabinets, doors, closets and anything that is relatively bulkier than her size. Conceals breathing, camouflages with clothes.
Katie isn’t a superhero. She doesn’t have interesting powers, she can’t bend metal, she can barely do her homework on her own. What she does have, however, is the strength to overcome her situation. She is quick on the comeback as much as she is on her feet and, most importantly, she persevere at times when others may give up. Katie just doesn't let herself fall a part and that makes her an incredibly strong person.
WEAKNESSES: You mean, asides from math? Katie is not strong (emotionally) although she rarely likes to revel in self-pity and does little to openly display that side of her personality. But deep down, away from the prying ears of her friends and family, the young high school girl knows that she can never hold a candlestick to her friends and even detest when her parents makes comparisons between Brit and Gia. She doesn’t like being reminded that she’s not smart and that she has many flaws. Whatever insecurities and doubts (even jealousy) she may posses, the ginger has overcome it by keeping a positive disposition.
GOALS: One of these days, Katie would love nothing more than to travel with her friends into uncharted lands and explore some sweet sights in the Caribbean seas. She has this quench for adventure. Now if only she could jump pass her first obstacle, school.
HISTORY: “Look, buddy, don’t ask questions that you can’t handle, got that?”
Don’t let her menacing look fool you, Katie Hearth? She’s harmless if you ignore her teenage babble and the slang that she spits out. The gingered youth was born to Adam and Racheal Hearth in a small suburb a few miles away from her current school. She‘s like any other regular teen. Nothing of significant importance. Like most kids, she rides the bus to school, hangs with her friends after class, and goes right back home where she often fits in her melodramatic laments between homework and her game play time.
She had several siblings, six to be exact. They’re all a little different, three of them happen to be boys, and if they’re not in the wrestling team, then they’re in some varsity league trying to kick some serious ass. She doesn’t quite get it but her brothers, just like her sisters, are fixated on being the best at what they do. On the other hand, the female demons that she shares breathing space with? Well, they’re okay. The kind of okay that gets you by without strangling someone. Katie lives under the shadow of either very talented or very pretty. Which is just fine with her because by the time she turned thirteen, she had already figured what was her unique brand. You know, the it factor that makes a person interesting? She’s the harmless troublemaker. Her sisters have graduated with the exception of Ashely and Charlie, who are currently seniors, while the rest took up college. Though she might get on her melodramatic soapbox, Katie can’t help but to miss her siblings whenever they’re gone for too long.
She has two doting parents who find it hard to divide their love and attention equally. Her father is a police officer currently working in Starr City on general cases. Growing up, he was the one who fed her imagination with stories of heroism and brave officers that protect people from harm. Her mother, on the other hand, is a stay-at-home mom. She had more of an firm role raising the family and even though she is stern, there is no doubt that she is merely concerned for her children. It was her mother who constantly encouraged her to try harder though her methods could use some work.
She absolutely adores her family, but like any normal kid living in an extraordinary city, there are some up and downs that come from living with too many people. Regardless of her qualms, she does truly love her life and her family, and not to mention her friends. This is the kind of girl that has never dealt with any emotional or physical problems and because of it, you can tell right away upon meeting her, that she is a friendly individual with a good heart.
