The drug did not even have a an official street name yet. Fresh off the rack, the designer product was promised to be more blissful than ecstasy and more addictive than crack. Perfect for the party crowd. The original stuff was bad enough, especially for the club scene, this could prove much worse. Mime wondered why kids were even allowed in clubs like this.
He could see his breath during this cold night as he hunched himself like a gargoyle as he peered down the skyline on the roof. He watched the a girl and her friends up talking with the shady group he had been tailing since this afternoon. Truth be told, he had been following the operation longer but was not able to find their actual base. He had hoped that today he would be able to isolate one of the hoodlums and interrogate them into finding their gang's turf.
As they all headed towards the exit, Mime crawled over to that side of the roof and peeked downward. The customers were definitely young, too young for this. Money exchanged between the three girls and the dealer and his five body guards. Before the envelope full of the product could be exchanged a voice rang in their heads.
"What are you doing?" he asked them all telepathically. They all looked around trying to find the source of the voice but could find nothing. Almost simultaneously, they all seemed to ask in some sort of form if either of them said anything. However they had no idea what had just happened.
Mime figured there were other gangsters inside the club as well in case they needed backup. Mime wanted to lure them out and keep all the criminals isolated from the good kids in the club. "Go back inside, do not take the stuff. Grab your other friends and head home immediately." He whispered inside the girls. Paranoid, they decided to go back inside without taking what they paid for.
He spoke as if he were their conscience or their intuition. He could not make them go or do anything they were not willing to do, he could only speak it in their minds. He needed to scope out the guys outside. He needed to figure out if any of them were packing any heat so he would not jump into the middle of a gunfight. All of them appeared to be armed upon closer inspection. He could fight all out but he did not want to endanger the people inside. He would have to be subtle, take them out without them even knowing and then getting the gang members inside t come out of their own accord.
