He has small, delicate hands and blemished, slightly pale, skin. He wears casual urban clothes consisting of t-shirts, hoodies, jeans, and jackets. His favorite jacket is a modified navel jacket with gold trims and accents. This jacket has been treated with a florescent material that glows when Ray shifts into his light-form.
Ray also protects his identity with a helmet. The helmet is made of a dense hard-light substance that Ray controls telepathically. The helmet is sturdy enough to withstand a heavy impact, but breathable to wear for long duration without discomfort. The helmet is typically equipped with a fin to cut down wind resistance and prevent whiplash.
PERSONALITY:
Ray is an affable, laid back guy with a hard-luck streak. He is over-stressed, overworked and never capable of catching a break. What sets Ray apart from other superheroes is his down to earth sensibility and youthful witticism. Constantly the voice of sanity in an insane world, Ray is both horrified and fascinated by his weird life, his weirder family and the wild world in which he lives in. A regular guy with regular guy habits, Ray's selflessness and courage is his greatest trait, though it his ability to laugh at himself and the world around him that endears him to others.
POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES:
Light Absorption: Ray has the ability to absorb light, storing it for later uses. Once his body absorbs sunlight, he can direct the energy to rearrange molecules into any form, matter or energy.
- Light Processing: He can also produce light from his own body which powers light projection and flight.
- Flight: Ray has the ability to fly, without artificial means. Require only minimum power and subliminal thought.
- Light Rays: The ability to project rays, beams, and bolts of destructive light. Require only minimum power and subliminal thought.
- Hard Light Constructs: A power to create constructs out of pure light a la Green Lantern. Require only minimum power and subliminal thought. Larger and more complicated manipulations of energy and matter require extended meditation and more power.
- Illusions: Ray can 'bend' light to create illusions.
- Invisibility: The ability to 'bend' light around himself, rendering him invisible to the naked eye.
- Light Energy Conversion: Capable of converting his body completely into light energy.
- Light Speed Flight: As pure energy, he can travel at the speed of light and cross space unassisted.
No physical harm can come to him in this form. This process can also be used to heal damage that his physical form has already sustained.
WEAKNESSES:
The color black is most resistant to Ray's power.
The Ray abilities are dependent on his exposure to natural light. An substantial time without exposure to light renders The Ray powerless. The Ray is capable of absorbing artificial light but without natural light, his abilities are limited.
Ray's abilities are limited to the extent of his imagination and dependent upon the amount of natural light Ray absorbs in one twenty-four hour period. Ray's projection abilities are dependent of his will and concentration, making his projection less sturdy if he's distracted.
GOALS:
Ray Terrill doesn't really want a lot; A new video game, a rent-controlled apartment, a job that isn't stressful, a geeky girlfriend. More importantly, he wants to use the powers that he have to help people in need. It's a noble cause, but a lot harder than it seems.
HISTORY:
From a very young age, Raymond Terrill is told by his supposed father that exposure to direct sunlight will kill him. Privately tutored in his window-darkened home, he is dubbed "Night Boy" by the media. At the age of eighteen, Ray learns the truth about his heritage while at the deathbed of his father, "Happy" Terrill. The dying man admits that he was the Golden Age Ray, and that exposure to sunlight will activate Raymond's own light-based super powers. As a child he would have been unable to control such power, and thus had to be kept in darkness.
At the funeral for "Happy" Terrill, Ray meets his cousin, Hank, who urges him to become a super-hero like his father. When he refuses, "Happy" shows up very much alive, in his classic Ray costume and looking far younger than he should, to meet his son. He tells Raymond that he was in fact raised by his uncle, Thomas Terrill, and that he must use his newfound powers to save the Earth from a powerful cosmic light-entity. Raymond eventually decides to take up the mantle of "The Ray," defeats the evil Dr. Polaris, and succeeds in dissuading the light entity from its destructive purpose.
After the light entity, Ray moved to Jump City and began working as a courier for Lightspeed Deliveries. Ray continues to use his ability as the masked adventurer The Ray.

There were great many things Ray never wanted to see again. Keeping Up with the Kardasians, LOLcats, People who say " Looking like a foo' with they pants on the ground ", James Van Der Beek. Among these list of things, the most highest was listed simply as HER. Her was Jenny Jurgen, a tall thin brunette with wiry glasses and a milky complexion. The reason was simple: Ray had once been in love with her.
It was not cold that day. The air was sharp in the way only winter brought and the light was dull gray and dim, but Ray was not chilly in his jumpsuit and jacket. His lips tasted the frost in the vapors that leaped from his tongue, but he had his gloves on and that was alright.
He was walking down Fulson street toward the subway when he saw her. She was arm-holding a shopping bag and pushing a stroller with the blissful intent of a busy person. She walked with a happy bob. Her curls bounced with each step. Ray's heart fell out of his chest and landed in his stomach. His brow narrowed and then blood rushed to his face. He set his feet to move before she saw him. As he stepped off the corner, she called up to him and he turned. He made a show of seeming surprised, acting as if he had not noticed her coming down the street and waited as she approached.
They talked for a whole ten minutes. She talked about her husband. Ray talked about his third floor walk up and his collection of pokemon miniature. She told him how happy she was. How she was a manager at the bank and how Kayla was going to be two soon. Ray listened and said nothing. He checked his watch, made an excuse and took his leave. Jenny kissed him on his cheek before he left and she squeezed his hand. Ray smiled and turned away and when he was sure she wasn't looking he frowned and ducked his hands into his pocket.
She had done nothing but have a good life and this had crushed him somehow. He worked the afternoon in a funk until...
" Is that a dragon? " he said as he turned the corner.
