"Ahh! The amusement park! Such fun to be had here," chirped Jason Todd as he headed down the street from his home towards one of the most adrenaline filled places (next to himself, of course). Well...at least the last time he went it was one of the most adrenaline filled places. Things could be different, although he really hoped not or he'd have to resort to jumping off buildings again... And to be honest that wasn't safe at all unless he had his Red X utility belt and Jason would never use that in broad daylight unless he was dressed up as his alter ego.
Stop getting distracted, Jason scolded himself before he walked up to the front, paid the entry fee, and then walked into the theme park. He looked around quickly and grinned happily as he spotted one of his favorite roller coasters ever. The Exterminator was the fastest, highest, most extreme ride Jason had ever been on. It was one of his favorites! Well...his favorite one in Jump City and one of his favorites when all of the other amusement park roller coasters of the United States was included...
"Must get to ride," he muttered as he took off. He weaved in and out of the amusement park goers. He didn't hit children, woman, or men. He skipped, jumped, and ran through all of the masses, making sure not to hurt himself or anyone else in the process. Of course it wasn't too long before he arrived at the entrance to The Exterminator. He had to admit, he was in awe for the briefest moment before he started forward and promptly ran in to someone. Weird, he thought before looking at them.
"I'm sorry. Are you alright?" He asked after a moment, wanting to make sure security wouldn't be called on him or anything. Jason didn't want that.

Ella's day had started off ordinarily enough; she'd shared a breakfast with her parents (albeit a quiet one over a video conference call, for extra awkwardness), spent a good deal of time shopping earlier at various outlets in the city, and overall just worried herself with enjoying a day to herself. It had been so long since she'd had so much time all to her lonesome, without the pressure to be a preening little socialite, that she found everything to be a great deal more relaxing than they probably should be.
After her eventful morning, she'd promptly decided to check out the locally owned amusement park that Jump City boasted; as she understood it, it was a fairly popular attraction for the city rife with superpowers. Indeed, although today was a weekday, the place was pretty packed with both locals and tourists galore. It was kind of easy to distinguish between the two, however, as the latter generally wore merchandise with images of the Teen Titans emblazoned on them.
Since she was considering today an "off day" as far as public appearances went, she actually went through the trouble of dressing down for this experience; instead of her usual moderate- to high-fashion wardrobe, she was instead venturing out in a pair of acid-washed jeans and a black graphic tee, with a silver shooting star stenciled across the front. Her unruly-looking hair was pulled back into the usual tight ponytail, swinging lightly from side to side as she twisted and contorted her body to slowly weave her way through the thickest parts of the crowd.
Having purchased some cotton candy from a vendor, Ella settled for just wandering around the park and investigating it's various attractions with cursory glances. Her trek halted when she reached a roller coaster, her eyes tracking the cars as they whipped around the track and the passengers squealed in delight. Truth be told, she wasn't really a roller coaster fanatic; the only thrill she was addicted to was the kind she experienced when behind the guise of Silhouette. Still, her eyebrows raised slightly as she continued to track the ride, she couldn't help but find herself thinking that it looked fun.
In fact, she was in the middle of debating with herself on whether or not she should ride it when she felt someone bump into her. Distracted as she was, she stumbled a step or two before regaining her center of balance - she did take a small amount of comfort in the fact that the cottan candy remained in her firm grip.. An uncommonly sharp irritation rose up in her as she turned her body to regard her assailant, fully expecting to see only someone's retreating backside. When they instead apologized, she faltered before reigning back in her irritation and putting up her usual smile.
"I'm fine, don't worry about it. You're honestly not the first one to bump into me, but you are the first to apologize for it, so you win points for that."
Even as she said it, she felt it easier to ignore her temper after convincing herself that it wasn't a big deal. Besides, she was as much at fault as the guy was for just standing around in a veritable trance, so she couldn't really fault him for being inattentive without having a finger pointing right back at her.

Jason hoped that the person wouldn't fly off their handle. He didn't feel like dealing with more crazy people, after all. He had had his fair share, especially with the famous Robin... Although, Jason doubted that people would really think of him as...crazy, but he did and really in Jason's world, that was all that mattered when it came to the red, yellow, green, and black wearing idiot. Everyone loved him because he was such a goodie, too bad no one knew he had created the whole Red X persona. Though if they did know, Jason was sure everyone would suspect he was Robin, which was good and bad.
As much as Jason disliked the Boy Wonder and as much as he would have loved to destroy his reputation, he liked having people wonder who he was. If word got out that Robin had once worn the suit, everyone else would assume so as well and Jason just could not have that now could he? In case you're wondering, the answer is no, not really. He couldn't have people assuming it was Robin. No. He liked his reputation and enjoyed being that weird guy who steals things and liked to dive off buildings. That was the main reason for Jason's stealing of the suit in the first place, other than the fact that his friends hadn't believed that he could do it.
Man, the looks on their faces, he thought before he noticed the person he had run in to had turned around. Despite having seen the long black hair, Jason knew better than anyone to assume that it was a female. Sometimes if people weren't paying attention they thought he was a female. No those, my friends, were awkward times for the young thrill seeker.
Jason had to admit, when he noticed that the person he had run in to was a girl, he felt a lot better than if it was a guy. Last thing he needed was some guy at his throat. Of course, now that he had run in to a girl, he might have the same problem. Very quickly, Jason's eyes darted around before landing back on her, making sure there was no crazy boyfriend around to potentially try and destroy his spine. When he noted there was no one, he heard her speak.
"I'm fine, don't worry about it. You're honestly not the first one to bump into me, but you are the first to apologize for it, so you win points for that." She responded. To be honest, Jason was quite glad that she hadn't gone psycho girl on her, it made his life a whole hell of a lot easier.
In response, Jason smiled at her and shook his head a bit. She was sweet, at least from what Jason could tell, but he wasn't about to let a beautiful young woman think that she was to blame for his...incoherent moment, we'll call it.
"Nah, I shoulda been paying more attention, to be honest. I was a bit distracted by the coaster... Lived here all my life and it still gets my blood pumped before I even get on it," he said with a large grin forming on his face. He looked something like a kid in the world's largest candy store. Thrill rides were like Jason's...second/third love. Sure, it had been the second thrill he had experienced, but diving off of cliffs and buildings were a hell of a lot more fun than riding roller coasters.

She had to admit that she found it odd when the young man's gaze darted around, and she cast a quick cursory glance over her shoulder to make sure no one was tailing her. She'd gone out alone and told people (mostly) where she'd be going, so it was entirely possible that a friend had decided to drop by and catch her at the park. It was also possible that her parents had sent a hired bodyguard- a ridiculous idea that they had nonetheless pushed more than once in the past. She wasn't the President's daughter, nobody was going to try to assassinate her or anything. Kidnapping for ransom was probable, but anyone attempting that would have a hard time of it.
The large grin put her at ease, as did his extended apology. Shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly and stuffing her free hand in one of her jeans pockets, she let a bite of cotton candy dissolve in her mouth before responding to his comment in kind. "I guess we could both do well to be more attentive, then!" The ribbing was both inclusive and self-deprecating, to try and keep the exchange light and friendly.
She ruminated over what he said about the roller coaster, looking back again just in time to catch the shrieking passengers as they came around again. "Is that so? I don't have a lot to compare it to, since I'm not a frequent visitor of amusement parks, but I take it that means this is one of the better rides?"
Before she could even give him a chance to respond, she returned her focus to him as her smile widened, showing a little bit of teeth. His child-like excitement, while pretty entertaining, was also proving to be kind of infectious. "Or are you one of those people who're just easily impressed?" An upturned eyebrow assured that it was just more harmless teasing; it was more frank than she'd usually act, but she didn't see it as entirely inappropriate for the time being. They didn't know each other's names, and she was determined to have fun on her 'day off'- she could stand to act a little less like Ella Poulin, and a little more like Silhouette.

"I guess we could both do well to be more attentive, then!" The female in front of Jason chimed good naturedly. Jason chuckled and nodded his head in agreement.
"I suppose we could," he joked back, unable to help himself. Jason was a playful soul and as such loved to mess around and goof off with anyone, no matter who they were. Of course, Jason also liked to meet new people, unless it pertained to the oh-so-lovable Teen Titans... Then he could probably be okay with not meeting them.
Jason turned to the female once more after gazing off into the distance at the roller coaster. She had asked if the ride was indeed fantastic. Jason smiled and nodded his head when she asked if this was one of the better rides. He had opened his mouth to gush about how fantastic was when she playfully gazed at him and asked if he was just one of those people who were easily impressed.
"Awww, you're hurting my feelings now," Jason said with a pout on his lips. Adorable wasn't something that people would usually use with people who looked like Jason. You know, tattooed, pierced, crazy-looking. They usually used insane, weird, or psychotic. Jason was all of those things, but he could also be really adorable when he wanted to be...strangely enough. It was one of his odd little quirks that he had.
Strangely enough, though, the women that Jason knew either wanted someone who was adorable, or wanted someone who scared her parents. He was both, but they never wanted both. They either wanted someone who their father would threaten to shoot to death if their already de-flowered daughter ended up not being...so...flowered. Or they wanted someone who was sweet, normal, adorable, and wanted their dad to put his arm around him and call him "son" during their first meeting. You can only imagine how first meetings with Jason go. "Hi, I'm Jason... Well I'll be going now since you're stabbing me in the face with your eyes." Sad, but true.
Jason gazed at his new female companion once more and grinned, making his once adorable pout vanish in to thin air as if it had never happened. He got an excited look behind his eyes and before the better half of his mind could stop himself he asked her a very simple question.
"So...do you want to go on the coaster?"

As amusing as the pouting was, it did certainly come out of left field. Ella was left with thinking how incongruous the act was with her (admittedly shallow) first impression of the young man. Being raised from a fairly young age in "classy circles", she hadn't had a lot of dealings with people like Jason or the stereotype that his looks suggested; all she had to go off of based on that were depictions in the media, and she knew all to well how much those could be trusted.
And then came the innocent question. She'd initially stopped by the park to do some sightseeing with no real intention of actually going on any of the rides, but the impulse to break her original plan was getting to be pretty enticing the more she thought about it. And to be honest, after hearing a little bit about the park's attractions earlier, she'd be remiss if she left without having done anything.
"Well I wasn't really planning on it, but I think now that I'll be beating myself up over it later if I don't."
She nodded to herself, almost as if in self-affirmation of her decision, before withdrawing her free hand from her pocket and holding it out towards him. "My name is Ella, by the way. Just so we're not strangers anymore." An outstretched hand and no last name; it seemed naturally appropriate for the situation. The guy didn't really seem like the fashion-centric type that would recognize her last name, but she never acted on any assumptions of recognition before actually getting to know a person.

Jason's eyes went back to the roller coaster known as The Exterminator. His eyes moved with the cars through every sharp turn and loop that they went through. It was one of the most intense rides he'd ever seen and he loved it. The sudden drop after going agonizingly slow up to the very tip top of the first drop, then zooming through all the various loops, corkscrews, and waves. He loved it. It was breath taking and often had people screaming, getting sick, and sometimes even crying (which had always amused Jason, not that he'd want to share that with anyone).
"Well I wasn't really planning on it, but I think now that I'll be beating myself up over it later if I don't."
Jason's eyes lit up when she said this. He wasn't going to lie. It made his day 200 times better when someone was with him at the amusement park so it was awesome to have met someone who wanted to hang out, even if it was only for a ride on a roller coaster. It was a lot better to turn to someone you at least knew a little to ask them," WASN'T THAT AWESOME?!" Instead of some random stranger who looked at you funny.
Green eyes darted back to the female before him as she introduced herself and stuck out her hand. Jason smiled and shook her hand.
"Nice to meet you, Ella. I'm Jason," he said with a grin on his face before he gently tugged her towards the roller coaster before letting go of her hand as to not seem awkward or like a creep. That was the last thing that Jason wanted.

"Pleasure's all mine, Jason." She returned his grin with a small smile before Jason abruptly tugged her towards the topic of their discussion. Truth be told she'd been expecting him to invite her onto the ride, seeing as that's the direction their talk was heading towards, but she hadn't expected an invitation so brusque. Finishing off the last of the cotton candy, she crumpled up the paper cone before shooting it into a nearby trashcan. Two points.
In the back of her mind, a niggling little thought arose; what exactly would her parents think of her just cavorting about (a phrase that they actually would use) with someone who simply looked like Jason? They liked to let her decide for herself the majority of the time, but this seemed like one of the instances where they'd speak up and remind her of the fact that what she did could reflect poorly on them as parents. To be mindful of the fact that people were watching them nearly constantly.
Ella herself didn't really harbor any kind of rebellious streak Silhouette notwithstanding, but she couldn't help but roll her eyes as she banished her current train of thought.
Tightening her ponytail after regaining the use of her other hand, she flashed him with another genuine smile as she turned her eyes up at the roller coaster's track, watching as the machine came back around for it's final pass. "Just promise me you're not going to say "ladies first". That line is way too corny for you."

Jason didn't pay attention as she sank the paper cone into the trashcan. He was far too excited about finally having someone to share this fantastic ride with. Of course, it wasn't fantastic as actually being in danger, but he'd take what he could get in the daylight. Not that he was only Red X at night but he liked being able to blend in to the shadows and darkness as Red X. It made him less likely to get caught...
After Jason realized she might swing at him if he didn't let go of her hand, he released her hand and looked back at her, watching as she tightened her ponytail. He knew what that feeling was like, although Jason usually liked his hair in a bun rather than a pony tail, but he'd do what he had to do when it came to his hair, after all, he loved his hair.
He loved dying it, braiding it, tying it back, leaving it down, cutting it, whatever. Jason enjoyed being able to mess with his looks in whatever way he saw fit. Of course, Jason also did the same thing with his body. He got it pierced and inked as much as he liked. Although, usually when he got inked it had a meaning to it unlike his piercings and his hair which changed when he felt the urge to get them done.
Then Ella spoke, making Jason snap out of his thought process. A snort escaped his lips, which he doubted was attractive but he didn't care.
"'Ladies first?' Please, you clearly have never met me before," he joked with a smile. "Well, at least when it comes to this monster, anyway," he said with another smile before he started towards the roller coaster, hopefully with her in tow. He'd be a little upset if she couldn't keep up. After all, he wasn't even going that fast...
